By shining a spotlight on their hard work, creativity, and innovation, we aim to inspire and empower the next generation of emerging artists while fostering a vibrant community that values independent artistry.
ABOUT THE CREATOR
Michele Adams - Award Winning Independent Filmmaker and Director
Michele was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana and is a renowned artist. Forming her own publishing company, she published her own collection of poetry, “Private Tears.” She has proven her skills as an actress in several movies including, “Life Is Not a Fairytale: The Fantasia Barrino Story,” “Welcome to Academia,” “Dream Boy,” K-Ville,” Until Death,” and “Déjà vu.”
Michele went on to spread her wings as the owner, publisher, and editor of the magazine, “OE Magazine” (Overview Exclusive Magazine). Citing influences from current artists and she made sure their voices were heard. After getting burnt out between running her magazine, writing, and directing films… She decided to put her magazine on hold to focus solely on her love for film.
One of her interests is children and adults with special needs. Because of this heartfelt concern, Michele opened her Philanthropist door by orchestrating an Annual Event: Stay Connected Talent Show, to give the special needs an outlet to showcase their many talents. In which the proceeds would go toward education and research for special needs children. Some may label it as disabilities, but in Michele's words “they have EXTRA abilities.”
Telling significant and relevant stories is a passion she possesses. Michele has written, produced, and directed two independent short films. The first is the multi-award-winning “Abysmal Ties,” a story about love and deep-seeded family intrigue, which has received 11 Laurels. Among these awards are San Diego Black Film Festival (Audience Choice Award), Vegas Movie Awards (Audience Award and Best 1st Time Director Award). The second is “Connect With Me,” inspired by those close to her heart.
Michele has many other projects in production currently, including scripts, and original songs she has written. Her new feature film “Prisoner of Love” can be found on Prime, Tubi, Roku TV, and will soon be on BET+.
Michele, as an independent creator, decided to create the "Purple Awards, Celebrating Independent Excellence" because many times they are overlooked.
She is definitely one to watch!
